Meet Ricky Anthony, a native of Washington and a seasoned military veteran with a heart for service. Born in Detroit and raised in Lakewood, Washington, Ricky's journey is one of dedication, selfless service, and a deep commitment to his country and community.

His formative years were spent in the world of sports, where he honed his values of teamwork, discipline, and commitment. These values propelled him to graduate from Steilacoom High School and earn a college football scholarship. However, a physical injury may have altered his path, but it didn't dampen his spirit of service. Instead, it led him to a new arena—joining the Army.

Ricky enlisted in the Army as a Private First Class (E-3) in 2003. His 20 years in the Army were marked by his direct leadership at the company, battalion, brigade, division, and joint levels. He was instrumental in mentoring, training, and managing small teams, who were entrusted with delivering administrative and HR support for organizations ranging from 130 to 13,000 personnel. He was selected to serve in a key role, equipping commanding officers with indispensable data that informed their decision-making processes and embodied the interests of all service members, serving as a personal advisor to the senior enlisted leadership on all issues concerning personnel welfare, readiness, morale, and effective personnel placement for progress.

Ricky honorably retired at 41 years old in July 2023. Prior to retirement, he was selected to serve in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Forces Integration Unit in Budapest, Hungary, as the Operations Staff Assistant focused on the eastern flank of the United States European Command (EUCOM) Area of Responsibility (AOR). His key responsibilities included facilitating the deployment of the NATO Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF) and other international units into Hungary. He was responsible for maintaining and synchronizing all tasking and orders and provided direct assistance for the operations, plans, training, and civil affairs staff in developing, issuing, and executing orders, drills, and briefs for current and contingency operations. And served as a liaison to the U.S. Embassy in Budapest, Hungary ensuring the successful integration of U.S. Army rotational units within the Hungarian AOR.

Ricky was selected to serve as the Administrative Technician for the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) in Hanoi, S.R. Vietnam, where he liaised with the U.S. Embassy for interagency engagements. He managed administrative duties for a diverse group involving military, civilian, and contracted personnel, including local employees, in support of the DPAA mission in S.R. Vietnam, “provide the fullest possible accounting for our missing personnel to their families and the nation.”

OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP

Experienced leaders embody self-awareness, transparency, and honesty. They represent the democratic process of shared decision-making, ensuring those most affected by a policy are actively involved during its development process. Leaders should have the wisdom and characteristics to simplify complex information into easy-to-understand facts. These declarations will harmonize us all in one direction and inspire individual and collective responsibility needed to bolster social and economic initiatives for a sustainable and thriving Washington.

I am committed to providing outstanding, healthy, and just leadership by understanding, respecting, and representing the known strengths within our society and bringing about opportunities for every individual to reach their highest potential.

LIFELONG LEARNING

I recognize the significance of lifelong learning and socialization for our children at an early age. It is at the forefront of my agenda, given its impact on our future generation and society.

Early childhood socialization, an integral part of education, is essential for mental health, well-being, personal development, and societal growth. It enables future generations to reach their highest potential, engage meaningfully in their communities, and contribute to our safe and sustainable society.

SAFETY AND SECURITY

Building an environment of trust by actively mitigating hazards and risks to counter potential threats and protect critical infrastructure is vital to:

  • Ensuring financial, housing, and food security by addressing employment, housing, agriculture, and education sectors to encourage economic stability and resilience.

  • Prioritizing physical and mental health and wellness, acknowledging their interrelatedness and the need for comprehensive care for overall well-being.

  • Promoting transparency to ensure a fear-free society, an environment where individuals can live without the threat of scams, crime, violence, or harmful acts that trigger survival instincts.

  • Promoting social stability through inclusive policies and initiatives that encourage cohesion, equality, and mutual respect from the city to our remote geographical communities.
